Timber decking paths and patios look delightful and provide dry, level areas for all your outdoor entertaining requirements. Decking can invigorate a family's use of their outdoor space, allowing many more activities to take place there. The space can be transformed by an area of raised decking standing high above the garden, or a subtle japanese engawa running around the house, or even an island decking. Decking is also a crafty way of making a difficult-to-use area, such as a bank, participate fully int the life of the garden.

Treated pine is the most cost effective and popular timber option for decking. Pine can be used in all decking and pergola situations provided it is properly treated. It can be stained in a range of colours to provide protection and enhance the natural beauty of the wood. The stains contain repellent waxes which slow the uptake and loss of moisture, reducing movement and minimising surface splitting. Deck sites need good drainage to avoid consequences of soil erosion and footing settlement caused by excessive water.
